When we have Thanksgiving at our house, I love to set out fall favorites like apple dumplings with Sprite, cranberry pecan cheeseball, and Sweet Potato Pie.

It’s also fun to have some fall treats for the kids to munch on, like this fall-themed popcorn munch. In my opinion, the combination of salted popcorn and chocolate is impossible to resist. It’s the ultimate fall snack or Thanksgiving treat for the kids. Best of all, it’s easy to make!

Ingredients You’ll Need

Thanksgiving munch recipe
  • 12 cups of popped and salted popcorn
  • 11 oz. Of chocolate melts – any color. I chose white
  • Candy Options include Candy Corn, Mellowcreme Pumpkins, Reese’s Pieces, Reese’s Minis
  • Fall Sprinkles
  • Waffle Cones (not pictured)
  • Cellophane Treat Bags (not pictured)

Equipment Needed

Microwave-proof glass bowl

Large bowl for mixing

Baking sheet lined with wax paper

Wax paper

How to Make Thanksgiving Munch in a Waffle Cone

Melt the melting chocolates in a microwave-proof glass bowl

Reserve 1/2 cup of melted chocolate for the waffle cones

Pour the rest of the melted chocolate over the salted popped popcorn and mix so the chocolate coats the popcorn

Spread the popcorn out onto the wax paper-lined baking sheet

Add candies to the top of the chocolate popcorn

Let the melted chocolate dry and harden

Break the popcorn up into pieces

If the reserved chocolate melts have hardened, pop them back into the microwave for 10-30 seconds to melt again.

Set out a sheet of wax paper on your work surface

Pour sprinkles into a small bowl

Roll the top of the waffle cones into the reserved melted chocolate, coating the outside with melted chocolate.

Next, roll the cone into the bowl of sprinkles, coating the melted chocolate with sprinkles.

Set onto wax paper to dry and harden.

Place a waffle cone into a treat bag, keeping it toward the opening of the bag

Spoon the popcorn mixture into the cone so it spills out of the front

Push the cone all the way down to the bottom of the bag

Pinch the top of the bag and secure it with a twist-tie
